RESEARCH

My research is centered around visual storytelling, care, collaborative practices and productive exchanges between social design and feminist technoscience. I am particularly interested in the relation between visual storytelling, identity and agency.  I have explored the idea of “Story:labs” - inspired by the design:lab (Binder & Brandt, 2008) as social spaces where designers and participants join together around an issue to design, create and speculate. In all my projects I have a distinct focus on material oriented and visual approaches and methods.

I have undertaken a post doc project at lab for sustainability at Design school Kolding (2022) exploring methods for green transition from the past (a collaboration with Kolding City Archives) and visual communication of these methods. I completed my Ph.D in photographic design anthropology from The Royal Danish Academy of Design focusing on participatory design and visual storytellin exploring participatory image-making in a youth club (2018). As part of my Ph.D. studies I was a visiting scholar for six weeks at Transdisciplinary Design, Parsons, New School NYC, US under the supervision of professor Jamer Hunt.

I have a degree (MA) in Communication Design (2005) from The Royal Danish Academy of Design, as well as a MA in Photography and Urban Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London (2011). I have for many years worked as researcher, supervisor, consultant and lecturer in both the design and the research department at KEA. Copenhagen School of Design & Technology.
